ARE there deadly sharks in the Sydney harbour? |
Travel Info My friend doesnt believe me that we have deadly sharks in the sydney harbour. I know grey nurse and port jacksons arent deadly but im SURE we have other sharks that are deadly in the harbour? Travel Tips Since 1791 there have been 83 unprovoked shark attacks in Sydney Harbour. The last fatal incident was in 1963. Five attacks have been recorded since then - two on the ocean floor off North Head, two on surf skiers and on in the Parramatta River. Shark meshing began on Sydney's surf beaches in 1967 so it is very unlikely you will encounter a deadly shark while swimming in Sydney's beaches or harbour. Yes - I have always been lead to believe that there are sharks in the harbour Sydney born & bred just the other day on the news they found a body that had drifted around the harbour for 2 days,no shark had taken a bite,i swim in summer in the harbour occasionaly,off manly wharf,no sharks on me |
