Sydney's gay & Lesbisn Mardi Gras, is this within Australia's peak tourist season? |
Travel Info Hello, I am doing an assignment on Sydney's gay & lesbian Mardi Gras and was curious as to whether is occured (Shrove Tuesday) within Australia's peak tourist season? Please excuse me, but I was wondering where I might find this information? also any credible sources of information on the event and its impacts would be fantastic. Thanks very much, Si Travel Tips The peak tourist season for Australia, like any other country, is summer. For Australia, this is September to March. The Mardi Gras is in February and is a month long festival ending in a carnival. The end of the peak tourist season is not long after the Madri Gras. Try the following sites to see if the help you http://www.australia.com/home_uk.aust?l=... http://www.visitnsw.com.au/ http://www.sydney.com.au/ http://www.mardigras.org.au/ Others I'd suggest that the highlight of the peak season would be NYE through to Australia Day (27th (?) January), when they have the Festival of Light in Darling Harbour (the fireworks on NYE are the perfect star to the festival!). Mardi Gras is towards the tail end of the hottest part of the year, still an amazing time to visit and extremely busy in Sydney. Not that there's any real quiet time though! Here are a couple of sites to get you started - www.mardigras.org.au www.australianexplorer.com Hi, it is really just after our summer peak season. Peak seasons in Australia tends to be Dec - Jan (summer), or June-July (winter). There are numerous websites on the gay and lesbian mardi gras for you to find out some more information. The sydney mardi gras usually ends in late feb/early march which is the end of the australian summer. So it does tend to be pretty busy then |
