Would you suggest going to Australia during X-mas?

Travel Info
I don't want to vacation when it's cold there, so I'm thinking maybe I should go during X-mas; is that a good idea???

Travel Tips
Peak season. Lots of tourists and school hols
If you dont mind crowds in the cities then come.
It is summer so weather is warm.

It's really hot now! But since i've only been here for 11 months...I'm not so sure what it's like during Christms!
Christmas is an excellent time of year to goto Australia if your looking for sunny weather to spend Christmas Day on the beach, Boxing Day is the Sydney to Hobart yacht race and then there's the New Years Eve fireworks over the harbour.

It's also the most expensive time of year so your looking at a cheaper budget maybe January would be a better option and the weather will be the same.
It's a great time of year in most of the southern parts of Australia as it is high summer and everyone is in a holiday mood. There are heaps of street events in most major cities and our national day (Australia Day) is on 26 January - so more fun!

At this time of year I wouldn't go to Darwin or the north of Western Australia (it is cyclone season) or Far North Queensland (there are stingers so you can't swim in the ocean).
It is lovely weather during Xmas in Australia, but it gets very expensive and over Xmas nothing opens - honest, nothing. So, you could be stuck in a hotel room with not a lot of choice of things to do. But it gets better over the New Year, with the obvious attraction of the New Years Eve Fireworks too. Its an amazing place, even in Winter, it isn't that cold.
During the winter here for Canadians and Americans is like a cold Autumn day for you guys. In QLD (Brisbane), it gets down to 13 a the minimum. In NSW (Sydney), it gets down to 8-9 minimum. In Victoria, it may get ddown to 5-6 at night but in Melbourne it will only go to 9. These are night temps. Day temps in most cities are 15-17C

For a traveler, Australia in the city areas is a pain in the butt during the summer unless you come from New York or are a sesioned traveler or if you know where you are going. It csn be easy if you plan ahead. You cant get a hotel anywhere good at Christmas unless you book 2 months ahead (in Sydney).

Plan well and you will LOVE our country. If you drive on the roads at this time of year, yiu have to be a good driver for 2 reasions. ONE. Idiots on the road. TWO, Road rage is at its peak in a traffic jam when its boiling hot in a car so if you get an opening, be a Homer Simpson and go for that spot or people will call you an idiot.
