Travel Tips
studio apartments from $1000 a month upwards (1000 a month is a pretty ratty apartment)
1 bedroom from $1500 a month upwards
(These are based on if u wanted to live in the heart of the city, it will be cheaper in some other areas, and dearer by the water)

Club admission $10-$20 average
Cable basic monthly package $38
bus or city train ride varies but inner city about $4 return
Movies- $15
Medium priced restaraunt meal for 1- $30
Internet monthly- $50
1 Litre milk- $2.50
Fast food meal- eg Maccas large $7
Beer in the city- $5
Hamburger meet- $15
Weekly food shopping 1 person- $50-$100

Very easy to get around in Sydney without a car. Actually in the inner city its easier to get public transport because of congestion.
You could also live out of the city itself, say on the north shore, northern beaches, sutherland or
r western suburbs (although the western suburbs are far from the nicest place in Sydney!) and commute on train very easily. They run a lot of services and weekly tickets are good value.

I just wanted to add that yes, someone could easily get by in Sydney without a car - I have been here a month and get my family and myself around very easily on the buses. The buses are extremely frequent, as are the trains, and there are always the ferries. The price of travel is also very reasonable $33 a week for a travel pass (all zones).
