How the sydney cab calculate the amount ? by distance or by time? |
Travel Info Hi any one can pl tell me how the cabs in sydney charges? by the distance travelled or by the time spent on journey.pl give answer on real experence .Thanks Travel Tips Australian taxis charge by distance, plus flagfall (a set amount incurred when you hail the cab) plus phone booking charge if you booked by phone. When stationary, there is a stationary rate i.e. a time charge. Rates vary according to the time of day/night too, and there may be a public holiday surcharge. There are parking surcharges from some airports. Other charges may be added on, such as any toll charges if you travel on a tolled section of highway/freeway. I live in Melbourne, so there may be slight variations, but minor. Others I can't really remember, but what's good about them taxi cabs is they really give you back your change even in cents! A nice place to visit! Enjoy! When I stayed in sydney they charged by how many people and how far you had to go, but I think that each cabbie charges different based on the co. sorry its been a while The meter charges by time travelled that is both distance and time, if the cab is stopped in a traffic jam the meter will still run but slowly, then as the cab continues the journey the meter will speed up, doesnt matter how fast the cab drives the amount will be the same, it doesnt work on speed, it works on distance but as I said before the meter will still rub even if the cab is waiting because it then switches to time. Most people have answered the question in parts so ill just try to put it all together... What is down here is right plus as it was said if the cab is going less than 20km/h a stationary charge takes effect. The cabs have a standard fee accross most the companies however you will pay more for a silver service or premium than a normal taxi but the fare will be worked out the same way. The best way to find out how much the fare is being charge at is the sticker that must be visable from the passenger seat of the taxi. It sets out the rate that the meter is set at.
