Computer Customs problems? |
Travel Info Hi, I am currently in Hong Kong, on the 14th I will go back to Sydney ,Australia. Now I have built a computer. It is brand new what should I do? It is only 2 days old. Do customs accept my computer? I am only 12 years old. Can I bring my computer + Mon and keyboard and stuff without having to pay customs money? Travel Tips Generally your personal property must be 6 months old to be considered used. technically it must be onwed and used by you for 6 months. The question of how old it is when you built it yourself would be an interesting one for Customs. They would probably use the newest part that you bought. But don't panic, the Customs duty on computers globally is nil, and Australia is part of the world Customs Organization. Watch out for VAT. I would suggest stating a value of the parts you bought. The VAT should be low enough that they will waive it. Others Yes, you can. Because old is old, doesn't matter how old it is. There are certain things you can and can't bring into Australia. You might want to have a quick look at the Australian Customs Service website below. Good luck. http://www.customs.gov.au/site/page.cfm... |
