Does anyone know of any bush camping sites within a couple of hours from Sydney. A river or creek or beach ? |
Travel Info Just stayed at a great bush camp on the wollondilly river, now loking for other places if they are around? Travel Tips West of Nowra...Morton National Park....Yalwal. Used to camp there in the '70's at least one weekend a month for years. It's about 30k'ms west of Nowra. It would pay to get topographic maps of the area or gps. Nice creeks to camp by and quite peaceful. Had some great times there. Others Hi yeah i'd head for the royal national park it's got it all from creeks to rivers to great beaches see link http://www.nationalparks.nsw.gov.au/park... You can bush camp in most NSW national parks and State Forests. There are a few guide books on bush camping around - look in the National Parks and Wildlife Service's bookshops next time you're in a major national park. There is a fee for camping, which you have to pay at the park entrance gate. My personal favourites are Kingfisher Pool in Heathcote National Park, and Burning Palms & Eerie Beach in the Royal National Park, both in the south of Sydney. Also the Grose Valley in the Blue Mountains, but with the recent bush fires there, they've probably closed that off. There's also some fantastic bush camping in Warrumbungles, but that might be too far for you - about 5 hour's drive from Sydney, but definately worth it. http://www.gosford.nsw.gov.au/community/... Patonga, 25 kms south of Gosford. Worth consideration. Camp area at mouth of Patonga creek and ocean. Surrounded by Brisbane Water National Park. Contact Gosford Coucil. http://www.gosford.nsw.gov.au/community/... |
