Renting a beach house in Sydney? |
Travel Info A group of us are spending a year travelling the world and are going to spend 5 months in sydney. we would like to know where is a good place to look for a beach house to rent whilst we stay there. If possible we would like a house to ourselves (6 or 7 beds?), we're on a budget so the cheaper the better. Thanks Travel Tips Hi, Like the last poster said. There is no such thing as a cheap beach house here in Sydney (Sorry). If you use holiday accommodation it's going to cost a fortune. What I think you should do is rent a 2/3 bedroom unit for six months. That's the least you can rent for. If there is no furniture buy cheap second hand furniture from St Vinnes or any other large Charity organisation. Then sell it when you leave. Dee Why on the Northern Beaches has heaps of cheap units for rent that's walking distance to the beach, cafe's and restaurants. Here is a site that you can look though to get an idea of the prices. http://www.realestate.com.au/realestate/... These suburds are on the Northern Beaches and are all close to the beach Avalon Avalon Beach Bilgola Bilgola Beach Clareville Beach Collaroy Collaroy Beach Curl Curl Currawong Beach Dee Why Dee Why Beach Fairlight Great Mackerel Beach Harbord Harbord West Long Reef Manly Manly East Narrabeen Narraweena Newport Newport Beach North Curl Curl North Manly North Narrabeen Palm Beach Paradise Beach Queenscliff The Basin Warriewood Whale Beach Others If you're looking for a place near a beach, chances are it wont be cheap, sorry. The places are just wanted by everyone! Good areas in Sydney for that sort of life style would be Bondi (Bondi Junction might be a bit cheaper and it's the next suburb over...), or Coogee Bay. (The Coogee Bay Hotel is one of the iconic pubs/bars in Sydney too) If you're not averse to driving, try either the Northern Beaches or South Coast. To find some places check out realestate for houses/units/etc for buy or rent and whereis for a look at the location in relation to everything. www.whereis.com.au www.realestate.com.au Yeah, good luck with that. Sydney is pretty big and pretty expensive and you just don't find anything cheap near a beach anymore. Most of the backpackers rent apartments in Bondi, Coogee and thereabouts and then sleep on mattresses all over the floor to save money. But the other option is to go to a suburb that has good transport to a beach. Kensington for example has good cheap accommodation as it is near the University and it has buses that take you down the hill to Clovelly Beach and Bronte Beach. Kingsford and to a lesser extent, Randwick also has bigger houses with cheaper rents. Also, one thing you need to know about Sydney: the best night life is close to the city, not on the beaches. im sorry to say but if u are planning to spend 5 months living in a beach house that is luxury and will be quite costly costs of beach houses these days are around 1000 or more a week for a 6 or 7 bedroom and there is a short amount of beachhouses available im sorry to say that is it close to impossible to find one with a cheap cost |
