The Sydney botanical gardens are a must, its free
There is plenty to see in sydney.
The first thing is the harbour of course.and then you can work your way out from there.
There are so many things to visit in Sydney but I will suggest them in order. I used to live there and I visit at least every 5 years.
Darling Harbor
National Art Gallery
Sydney Opera house
Lunch or dinner at Sydney Centerpoint Tower
Taroonga Park Zoo
Manly Beach, try both the family beach and nude beach
Oh my gosh so many more but the main thing is to get there, once you are there, you will find a small magazine that is free, get one of them as they ill have Mpas, ideas around Sydney etc, these are also available at the airport HAPPY TRIP
Centrepoint Tower, The Sydney Opera house, which is stunning under the city lights and is a popular architectural icon, the Harbour bridge, The Botanical Gardens, Newtown for it's trendy clothing stores and rich vibrant culture, Manly beech cause it gets really hot in Australia and Glebe cause it has some really cool markets.
Hi Kate, I'm in Sydney now. The tour of the Opera House takes about an hour and is fascinating (you can book online) There's currently an exhibition "Bridging Sydney" at the Museum of Sydney - really good, the bridge will be 75 years old in March. My beloved has booked to climb the bridge tomorrow, hope its a bit cooler (37 today) can't tell you what it's like but they breathalyse you first! The Opera Bar on Bennelong Point (just before the Opera House) is a great place to sit and admire the famous view. Take the Manly Ferry from Circular Quay. On Saturday go to Paddington, there's a truly fabulous market there. Go to Sydney Fish Market and have a big fried fish platter. Get a manicure and pedicure anywhere - so much cheaper than the UK. You will have a great time whatever you do.
I just got back from being in Sydney for New Years. There is so much to see and do! I suggest Bondi for a full day. Take the Sydney/Bondi Explorer buses. They are awsome! If you can go up to the Gold Coast!
