Australia day? |
Travel Info Australia day? Travel Tips this Friday. Others Sounds like a good idea to me! Yep!!! Friday I am not sure what your question is, but Australia Day is just like Canada Day, where we celebrate the birth of our nation and all that is Australian. Australia Day, January 26, is the biggest day of celebration in the country and is observed as a public holiday in all states and territories. On Australia Day we come together as a nation to celebrate what's great about Australia and being Australian. It's the day to reflect on what we have achieved and what we can be proud of in our great nation. It's the day for us to re-commit to making Australia an even better place for the future. im working... but atleast i get paid penalties :S actually ... I have a confession .. Australia Day really means very little to me .. I do respect other's though to celebrate the day as they see fit. I just enjoy the day off work .. and DO take the time to have fun with family BUT I honestly get no massive feelings of patriotism on Australia day It just happens to be the day that The First Fleet landed at what is now Sydney. I can understand how the Aboriginal peoples see it as a day of Invasion. The Day I see as our True National Holiday is ANZAC day ... and It isn;t about glorifying war .. but the strengths of mateship in the most dire of consequences .. AND THAT to me is MORE about Australia than the day the first Fleet landed. However having said all that .. ENJOY THE DAY FOLKS .. do as you will :) jen |
