Heres a bit of its history.....

Officially opened in 1999, Telstra Stadium was primarily designed as the main Stadium and centrepiece of the Sydney 2000 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Initially the Stadium had a seating capacity of more than 110,000, which made it the largest Olympic stadium in history and at that time the largest stadium in Australia. This capacity enabled the Stadium to set World Record attendances for an Olympic Games and sports such as Rugby League and Rugby Union.

In 2000, following the completion of the Olympic Games, an $80 million dollar reconfiguration program was commenced that has seen the Stadium鈥檚 capacity reduced to approximately 80,000. An oval arena has been installed enabling the conduct of Australian Football and cricket. The upper stands at the North and South ends of the Stadium have been demolished and the lower stands have been moved closer to the centre of the ground by 15 metres. The lower sections of the stands on the East and West ends of the ground have been redesigned so that they are able to be automatically moved closer to the centre of the ground by 15 metres depending upon the type of event being hosted. This allows fans to be closer to the actual playing field for sports such as Rugby League, Rugby Union and Soccer, while maintaining a larger playing surface for sports such as AFL and Cricket. Roofs over the North and South ends were completed by 2003.

Since commencing operation in 1999, more than 6.5 million people have attended more than 100 events at the Stadium. Events held at the Stadium have ranged from the Olympic and Paralympic Games, rugby union, rugby league, Australian football and soccer through to American football, extreme sports, motorcycle speedway and concerts. In February 2003, the Stadium hosted its first cricket match.

P.S ITS NOT AUSSIE STADIUM AS STATED ABOVE AND IT WAS NEVER CALLED OLYMPIC STADIUM....
