Going to Australia in June...any great tips??? |
Travel Info Going to Australia in June...any great tips??? Travel Tips This was my answer to a similar question...hope it helps you. Went there in '94 and '98. Went to Sydney, took a trip on a ferry, went to the Opera House and saw the opera "Cinderella" (which was sung in Italian with English subtitles). The Australian Wildlife Park is right outside of Sydney and you can hand feed the kangaroos there. Sydney also has some kind of a space needle thing there (forgot the name) with a revolving restaurant up at the top, that serves a buffet. In the Northern Territory, you can ride camels in Alice Springs, or fly down to Ayers Rock, which you can climb up. When I went in '98, I climbed to the top (which I later found out the Aboriginees don't like). In Queensland, we went to Surfer's Paradise and a nearby theme park named Dreamworld. Also check out Port Douglas...you can take a high speed ferry and go snorkeling or diving in the Great Barrier Reef. Hope this helps give you ideas. Others yeah go to the main attractions in each state if possible. There is a small town in western australia called esperance they can give you some of the most breathtaking pictures of the ocean and shore you will ever see! to get the real experience of australia you really have to go inland to the small cattle towns and that will give you a chance to see the local and the natives like the aborigines. on more thing you do know youwill arrive in australia in the beginning of their winter, so pack water proof because it rains alot! You must go to Cairns...Port Douglas & Cape Tribulation are also around there. It is the most beautiful tropical rainforest in the world and the Great Barrier Reef is there. I've travelled alot & it really is one of the most wonderful places in the world. The big cities are big cities and not that different to big cities anywhere else, so I wouldn't plan on spending much time in those. Darwin, and Ayers Rock are also Australian unique attractions. People who have been to Ayers Rock say it was the most amazing thing to see (even though they thought it looked a bit dull in brochures etc). Trip advisor is a great place to go to for travel advice. Hope you have a great trip down under! In June, stick to the north. You'll be in Australia for winter, so the southern parts (Canberra, Melbourne, Tasmania) are cold and wet. The north (Queensland, Darwin) is tropical and should be nice and warm, which is why you're going to Australia, one would assume. |
