Work commute from Northern Beaches to CBD - how?

Travel Info
Hi,
I'll shortly be working in Sydney CBD for a while, and probably staying somewhere in the Northern Beaches area (Narrabean or similar). I know there's no trains in that area, so what's my best option to get into the city each day? Bus? or drive to Manly and ferry? or drive west to the railway? or perhaps drive all the way & pay for parking? Advice please!

Travel Tips
Living on the Northern Beaches and working in the CBD isn't ideal.

If you are happy to sit on a bus for a very long time you can get a bus the whole way. I wouldn't recommend this.

You could get a bus to Chatswood / St Leonards / North Sydney rail station then get a train the rest of the way, depending on where on the Northern Beaches you are this could be a better option.

The Manly ferry is a beautiful way to get to work but they are infrequent and it is a rather long journey.

Driving the whole way will take a long time (especially trying to cross the bridge) and be expensive (bridge toll $3 + parking $25).

Others
Bus and ferry is the most pleasant way to get to work and gets you to the Quay. Bus only is efficient and gets you to Wynyard. I would try both and choose the faster option taking into account how long it takes you to get from Circular Quay or Wynyard to the office. Unless you really need your car at work during the day, don't even think of driving.
Buses are surprisingly quick -- probably much the same time as driving. There are dedicated lanes across the Spit, and down the Warringah Expressway. You soon learn which buses stop least. From most places there are buses that will only stop a few times after pickup.

Bus/Ferry will be more expensive and slower unless you are actually located at Manly. With public transport the real killer is always wait time when you change modes of transport. If your ferries and buses do not quite link you can be waiting a while, which is a pain.

Whatever you do you will be looking at about 45 min from Narrabeen. Book and MP3 player is vital.
