Emigrated from the UK to Australia in 2006 It took me 12 months to obtain an Aussie Visa, like Peter F. I'm from Venezuela and from the moment I signed the contract with the Migration Agent to the moment I was granted the Visa 12 months passed. There was a 6 month dead period, from the moment my papers entered DIMIA (the government agency that handles this stuff), until a case officer was assigned to my case.
