Travel Tips
You are meant to let the government know BEFORE marriage not after. You may be in big trouble because you didn't tell them when you planned it.

My friend married someone here, in Australia, who was on a tourist visa and then they told the government. He was kicked out of the country and banned for 3 years. She lives here and he lives in his country- they are still trying to get him back here. It's been 2 years since he was kicked out.

You should tell the government now but be warned they may investigate the marriage asking why you didn't tell them before. I don't know if the same thing will happen but that is what happened with my friend and her husband. Source(s): My friends experience.

Other Travel Tips
Getting married in Australia does NOT make you eligible for any visa.
you are a filipina, you came to Australia on a tourist visa and you got married while you were here.
correct?
ok, firstly, your marriage is automatically registered as an Australian marriage. make sure you have the certificate.
second, you will make things easier for your marriage if you return to Philippines before your tourist visa expires.
now, there are two main requirements when applying for a spouse visa 1. that the marriage is a genuine relationship and 2. that it is ongoing.
you should keep records of all stages of your relationship.
how you came to know your husband, emails, internet chatting, phonecalls, cards, gifts, and any financial support he is providing you. keep a diary, keep receipts, bank records.
as well, details of his employment, financial situation, etc.
do not apply for a spouse visa if the total time you have known each other is less than one year. and, you have a much better chance if there were two visits.
you have already been to Sydney. you need another visit, it will probably be easier if he comes to visit you.
lastly, now that you are married .. it is important that your husband sends you money regularly. it doesn't have to be a lot. just to show his support.
keep writing emails to each other. maintain contact, keep records, two visits, at least a year. it will happen.
and yes, lodge at the embassy in Manila.
& & &
if it was your husband who came to visit you and married you in Philippines, you can follow my advice above but your husband will need to first go to the Registry of Births, Deaths, and Marriages....and show evidence of the marriage. he will then be issued an Australian marriage certificate which he can send to you.
