Moving to sydney from Dublin with family? |
Travel Info We have 3 kids and are thinking of migrating to Sydney with an employment sponsorship. My wife is born and bred in Dublin and is not sure about the decision. Can anyone who has made the move advise us on how they are finding life in Sydney now? Also how easy is it to get into schools etc. oldest child is 8 years old. Thanks for any advice Travel Tips Sydney has 5 million people, the whole country only 20 mill. it's possible you may have a sensation of stepping back in time. Australia is officially multicultural. parts of Sydney can seem like a different country. allow at least 300,000 US dollars to buy a home worth living in. less if you don't mind an apartment in a less-well-off area. most people who migrate to Aus. end up liking it, but a small number can't abide the place. allow for that contingency. access to schools is unlikely to be a problem. Others Sydney is a great place to live, as is any city in Australia. Why don't you come for a holiday first to put your wife's mind at ease. Have a look at a few cities and then decide. Schools are easy to get into. The state (government) schools have to accept you. You can also choose to pay for private education if you wish. Life is pretty good in Australia, 20 million people can't be wrong. I live in Sydney and like it so so...depends on the day...moving from a country to another is a big decisION...espcially australia as it is gonna be more than 24h flight from home :) YOU'll feel a little isolated here otherwise sydney can be fun :) |
