Moving to Sydney with family - suburb help?? |
Travel Info We are a family of four (Indian origin)- kids aged 4yrs and 2 yrs old. I am hunting for a suburb to relocate to, keeping the following in mind - => Proximity to school => Within 30/40 mins to CBD by train or drive => family oriented, (less crime rate) => Easy access to food and hospitals => Would prefer to have a golf course near by I would appreciate if you could provide me with names of suburbs. I've been to Syndey in 2004 and barely remember the names of the suburbs. Many thanks in advance to all those who reply Travel Tips Unfortunately you cannot buy a 3 bedroom house in a good suburb within 40 minutes of the CBD (during peakhour) for $400k. Assuming that you can't afford to spend more money you have to give up on one or more of your other criteria. House prices are down at the moment and the outlook is slightly negative. You should be able to do a deal of at least 5% discount to the asking price. Units/Apartments are cheaper but not much good for a family with young children. The times I have given below are the minimum time based on the published timetable. The trains have a tendency to be late and it also depends on how close you are to the station. Some suggestions are: Liverpool - has a good number of Indian shops (groceries, saris etc), schools, a hospital and a golf course but has a relatively high crime rate and is about an hour from the CBD by train (forget about driving). Parramatta - Around 40 mins of the CBD by train, has lots of shops, schools & a hospital, the golf course is a bit dodgy but there are some good ones in nearby suburbs. The crime rate is relatively high. Hornsby - Lower crime rate, around 45 mins to the CBD by train, shops, hospitals & schools but no golf course (there are some good ones nearby though. Other Travel Tips Blacktown would suit all your needs. Parramatta, maybe. Cherrybrook, Epping, Castle Hill, perhaps. ***Blacktown City has "Ashlar Golf Course" - the best in Sydney, I think. By train, Blacktown is about 45 minutes away, yes, but if you've only got $400,000, you won't be able to afford anything east of Lidcombe. Sorry. this is nearly all the suburbs around sydney. also what is your budget? try carlingford, oatlands, north rocks area. it seems to fit what you want. wattle grove near liverpool is a lovely suburb - 2 schools within walking distance plus hospital only 10 km away - close to supermarket. nearest train station is holsworthy train station which has a direct train to cbd with no transfers and only takes about 30mins. is within your price range with really nice houses and virtually no crime Homebush is close to the city and it has a large Indian community and you say you have 400k. get a unit for that coin easy in that area |
