I don't want to sound unpatriotic or anything but at the moment i don't think Australia is doing too well. The government is crap and they might be in for another 4 years if Howard pulls something out of his ***, There's a lot of racism, sexism and prejudice, interest rates and petrol is going up. I'm not saying that the people are bad or anything, most Aussies are good people but I don't think that Australia is in a good position right now. Source(s): Me and the news

We are hard working while not taking ourselves too seriously.
We look after each other. We have earned the respect of a lot of countries around the world by being there to help when times are tough. Like the US we came from a British background and the Brits were one of the most successful Empires in history.
Its because we are just soooooooo fabulous darling :-)))))

Seriously, I think Australia is great because the majority of us are laid back & not uptight.

Our country is pretty, its fairly safe & family orientated.
Lived here all my life & love it.
