Is Taiwan a great place to go for a good time and resting?

Travel Info
Have been looking for a place to travel too and I now seem to have it narrowed down to about 3 or 4 places, Japan/Okinawa, Singepore, Taiwan, Thailand, and Viet Nam. Am kind of leaning towards Taiwan.

Travel Tips
All the Asian countries you mentioned have their own charms.

The beach in Okinawa is good. People are nice. However, it is so small that you may get bored just in three days.

Singapore is convenient and westernised. You can communicate with local people in English without a problem. Air fare to Singapre can be cheaper because most airlines serve this country. Even though, you may find nothing here different from your home country.

Thailand has great beaches, beautiful islands and a definitely tropic atmosphere. Many foreign tourists come to Thailand for holidays. If you do not want to happen to meet your boss, teacher or parents during your holiday, try somewhere else.

Vietnam is as famous for beaches and food as Thailand but less visited by western tourists. Although safe enough for travelling alone, the rate of street crime and traffic accidents in Vietnam can be higher than that in other countries you mentioned.

Let's talk about Taiwan.
Nice people - as good as those in Okinawa.
Convenience - better than Thailand and Vietnam.
Westernisation - a little bit, but still a typical Asian country. And on a street you can often find some people who can speak English when you need help.
Beaches and islands - go to isolated islands or the eastern part of Taiwan and then you will figure out why old-time Portuguese sailors named this island "Formosa" when they saw the beautiful scenes.
Street crime and traffic acccidents - much better than Thailand and Vietnam.
Food - you may be surprised by the multiplicity of food in Taiwan. It originated in China, but current Taiwanese food is a unique combination of Chinese, Japanese, southeast Asian styles. It is tasty and clean.
Popularity - not as popular as Thailand and Singapore among westerners. This makes your visit special enough because you may not see any acquaintance in the same country and local people may treat you with their sincerest hospitality.

Yes, if you like to watch people killing & eating dogs in the street.
I'm Taiwanese, and we don't kill/eat dogs in the street. I resent that.
Taiwan is a lot of fun. There are a lot of delicious foods (and I'm a picky eater), fun night markets, the world's fastest elevator, and it's easy to navigate. I don't speak Mandarin too well but the subway system does have signs in English!
Taiwan is a lovely place to visit.
Firstly, the people here are really great-helpful, generous and polite
Good times can be had at the exciting clubs here:

Other than that:You can rest :
On the beaches of Kenting,
In the Mountains of Nantou(Alishan)
Tour the Marble Gorges of Hualien and go for a relaxing Hot Spring dip
The Recreation forest of Yilan

Taiwan has some of the World's greatest Theme parks for really exciting rides. The list is really long.
I love Taiwan and I find it a great place for a good time and for rest. It really depends on what your definition for these two items are though. Rest - I like to find quiet places, maybe chalets or villas (sorry, I'm not too sure what the proper terms are) up in high mountain ranges, stay a few nights, see the views (gorgeous if you enjoy mountain views) and generally, relax very quietly.

Just thought I'd mention my point of view - the clubs are great or so i hear, but there's also quiet relaxation^^
I want to recommend you to go Thailand or Singapore or Vietnam.

Maybe I didn't have a good time in Taiwan, I don't think Taiwan is suitable place for resting. First of all... air is horrible....
