Enjoy!!
1. You must try Dim Tai Fung - there's one branch on Xing-Yi road, an other is located in ZhongXiao Don Lu - they do dumplings, steamed buns and other traditional snacks - all fantastic.

2. The night markets of course - try a 'hao da da ji pai' at Shi Ling Night-market. Rao-he Night-market is also great!

3. ZhongXiao Don-Lu area has plenty of restaurants!

4. If you crave Pizza then check out Alley Cats which is just off Xing-Yi Lu and is considered to be the best pizza in Taipei - the house red wine is great as well!

(Actually, Alley-Cats has changed is chef and by the looks of it - it's management as well - the last 2 times I went it was a joke, I asked for a 4 cheese pizza - they only used Mozzarella, I complained - they took the pizza back and then added 4 times as much mozzarella - forgetting the other 3 cheeses. I complained on the way out asking if they have changed chef and they actually admitted that they have - no wonder)!

5. Rosemarie's is great!

6. Carnegie's offers Western foods (like TFI or Hard-rock cafe).

7. Go to the buffet at the grand Hyatt (5 star hotel) and for around 800NT (拢13) you can help yourself to a rather large selection of foods - Western and Eastern! It's great!
you can by MRT to Shuling and there is a night market

the food there are great

if someone will guide you , you can ask him/her to take you to the night markets
a couple sites to look at next time you want to eat out:

the taiwanfun site has a comprehensive listing of the various restaurants (but all the reviews are paid for- its good to get ideas of places to try however) It is for all the major locations in Taiwan.

virtualtourist.com may have some good stuff for taipei. I do some restaurant reviews for them when I have some time to sit around. Which isnt often enough, but whatever I still have a life. Mostly I review in Taichung though, but probably some recommended places are there.

another site to ask around at is the lonely planet site. there are more responses there on occasion.
