Travel Info You guys like China more or Taiwan? Why? Travel Tips Props to the TW crew! Tw is better because it is a free country. And it has all the best of China, but in a smaller space. The sea, mountains, and food are wonderful. The people are uber-helpful, and modest. And I agree that they won't rip you off here. And it is amazingley safe. And- people don't steal. I could share a million stories, but a few months ago I bought some gloves at the mall, and they were in a paper bag, which I set on the ground next to my scooter, and forgot. I remembered a couple of hours later, and when I drove back to the mall, there they were, sitting on the curb waiting for me. But, two weeks ago we rented a car and drove south. We left the car on a busy street corner, and spent the day on a nearby island. After about 8 hours, we returned to the car, and to my horror, I couldn't find the keys anywhere. When we walked to the car, there they were, hanging off the trunk keyhole-car and trunk contents intact. Only in Taiwan!!! Others As a tourist, I think China is more attractive. There are just so many places to go! (The Great Wall, Forbidden City, Teracotta Warriors, Potala Palace, etc) In regards to the way the government is run, I would have to say Taiwan is better. (Although China is improving a lot...) Whatever. Taiwan was ok, but after that one incident where swedish guy spray painted on Taiwan king's portrait and he got the terrible punishment... It got worse. I like Taiwan better because Taiwan has never threatened to declare war with any country or region which does not want to become a part of Taiwan. By the way, the guy above (Fred) is wrong. There is no king in Taiwan. The news he mentioned actually happened in Thailand. Thailand and Taiwan are two different countries. I like Taiwan more. I like the food, I like to go around the country for sight seeing and eating -Every major city has their own speciality dishes, mmmm. But mostly , I like it because the People here are great. Kind, helpful, generous ,and they have been this way since I first came to visit in 1979. I like Taiwan! Bcoz of its people, foods, culture and many more........... Fred- That was Thailand. Taiwan is a democracy, not a monarchy. That said, the people in Taiwan are much much nicer--the Chinese will rip you off (and each other) at the first opportunity. The culture and temples are much better in Taiwan simply because the Chinese Cultural Revolution destroyed most of China's. Literature in China is probably more interesting than Taiwan. Governments? No contest. The Chinese are brutual, repressive, censoring thugs. The Taiwanese are in the early stages of a democracy. Food is amazing in Taiwan. Good things about China--it is huge, and offers much more variety than Taiwan. That's about it. |
