What is the cheapest way to get to Taiwan from Los Angeles? |
Travel Info I wanted to know the cheapest way to get from LA to Taiwan. I have heard that it may be cheaper to fly to Singapore or Hong Kong then take a flight into Taiwan but this does not seem to be the case when I check fares. Travel Tips Just fly directly from LAX to Taiwan - it's the best way. Flights to Hong Kong or Singapore aren't cheaper when you add in the cost in time & money for the connecting flight. A quick search on kayak.com shows that Malaysia Airlines has the lowest online airfare right now for $689 R/T. You should also try to phone Chinese travel agencies on the west coast (SF, LA, etc.) and they often have even better fares. If you could read Chinese or have someone who can help you, get World Journal or Singtao Daily and look in the classifieds for travel agencies - there are dozens of them with special fares and promotions. http://www.kayak.com/ http://www.worldjournal.com/ http://www.singtao.com/ Flying direct saves so many headaches. I recommend EVA airlines or China (Taiwan) Airlines. (with the pink flower logo) EVA, China Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, Singapore Airlines - they all fly direct LAX to Taipei. All of them, at some point offers special deals during the low season. Flying to Singapore or Hong Kong and then to Taipei is definitely NOT any cheaper. The cheapest deal often comes from MAS. Their aircarfts are relatively new and service level is good. You can check their rates at http://www.malaysiaairlines.com/index.ht... as crazy as it sounds fly to bangkok and then transfer from bangkok back to taipei. In the summer everyone(students, their parents, and bussiness men and women) go back to taiwan to see family and vacation, and if you're going in the summer Thailand will be in its "low" tourism season, so tickets are cheaper to go to bangkok then taipeidespite the fact that taipei is closer to L.A then bangkok. so oddly enough if you fly from LAX to Taipei and then go to Bangkok from Taipei it's actually cheaper than going staright to Taipei, just make sure you are on the same airlines all the way, plus you can vaction in bangkok for a while. so you would want to go: LAX-TPE-BKK-TPE *it is time consuming but its cheaper |
