I'm just wondering if it's advisable to go to taiwan in July.? |
Travel Info My friends told me not to as it's the monsoon season and there'll be lots of typhoon. Travel Tips Anytime is a great time to go to Taiwan. I went there a little more than two years ago, and have been missing it ever since. Great country. I do know that it's really really hot in July, and from what I understand, very humid as well -- cooler of course in the mountains. (I went in October.) Don't worry about the typhoons. The Central Weather Bureau (and the media) keeps excellent track of the typhoons, and it's relatively easy to stay out of harm's way during the typhoons, provided you take the appropriate precautions. Others Be careful of what your friends tell you. The typhoon season usually starts in June, and can go until December. Yes, we had a typhoon here in Taiwan in December before, although that was unusual. So, if you are willing to rule out travelling to Taiwan for up to 6 months just because of a possible one-day typhoon, then you can only come between February and June. Not only will there be typhoons, but also it will be extremely hot in cities (over 30 Degrees Celcius these years) when there are no typhoons coming. Singing River is correct, July in Taiwan is hotter than hell! When I was there last July there were days it was 38 degrees centigrade and the humidity was 100%... If you're going in July, you'd best be indoors from 10am until about 6:00pm. Good luck and drink lots of water! Why not? It does get hot and humidity is on the high side, but everywhere is air conditioned (the busses are usually so cold you have to carry a jacket :-) Depending on where you go, you can expect more or less rain. Keelung is the rainiest place, and the whole east coast is cooler, but has more rain. The chain of mountains blocks off the storms so it's a lot drier on the west coast. Typhoons usually not bad and hit Philippines instead. many typhoons turn north before they get to Taiwan. Soooo don't worry and enjoy yourself! Lived there 6 years. it would be a good idea to go during autum because the summer is too hot and i mean hot hot hot and spring rains too much and winter is not too cold but sometimes there is blasts of cold air mass coming from the north ....so the best time to visit is october and november ...i used to live there but now i only visit there in the autum and don't worry about typoon and monsoon is usually not that serious as long as u stay in the city and don't go to beach or mountains when the typhoon is crossing have fun!!!! |
