Why do Taiwanese legislators brawl so often? |
Travel Info Serious replies only -- preferably from Taiwanese people or someone otherwise familiar with Taiwanese politics. My question is not meant to be mocking; I am genuinely interested in the underlying dynamics of this phenomenon. Travel Tips Because they have very strong feelings. In the US congress, the congressmen don't really have any enemies. If you were a Taiwanese legislator, and felt your country is in danger of being destroyed, by actions of the other party, you might resort to something else than quiet discussion. Others The reason is simple. In their hearts, all of the Taiwanese people are aware of the fact that "the Republic of China" is not the legitimate government of Taiwan. (However, from a legal point of view, to prove this fact is very very difficult .... ) Moreover, a careful examination of the international record shows that the world community does not now, and indeed has never in the past, recognized "the Republic of China" as the legitimate government of Taiwan. Hence, all the fighting in the Legislative Yuan, because everyone wants "the Republic of China" to go back to China where it belongs, and to leave Taiwan alone!!! http://www.taiwankey.net/dc/rocexile.htm... http://www.taiwankey.net/dc/tforumtw.htm... http://www.taiwankey.net/dc/rcitizen6.ht... they often brawl coz they fight for something they think is right. most of them have different points of view, miles far contradicting..and it has something to do w/ winter legislative session ...lots of lawmakers from democratic prog. party stormed speaker's dais to prevent voting on a proposal to change composition of the CEC ..central election com. unless they have diff views, brawling will not end.. it happens everywhere, much worse even... Their democratic institutions are still "priimitive". Triad based politicians...... they seemed do not care to try other ways to express themselves and have a lot of malice toward other ppl,..you can see their periodic politician fighting shows all the time but yeah you would want to see nothing like that,poor taiwan compatriots,I hope they can be out of this big mess soon and stop trying to make so many troubles, become virtuous and amicable people that they once were,live peacefully ever after, everybody happy then |
