Taiwan is a Province of the Republic of China - ROC. The ROC is already an Independant Country. There is no need for Taiwan to gain Independance from the ROC.

Taiwan is already independent. Taiwan's 23 million citizens enjoy a free press, the right to elect their own leaders, and the unobstructed practice of their religious beliefs. I would, however, like to see Taiwan gain formal independence (e.g., full diplomatic relations with the nations of the world, admittance into the United Nations). But the odds are against this right now. The big bully in the neighborhood, China (a dictatorship), has alarming political, economic, and military clout. Most of the world, including the United States, has sold out to China. Oh, and then there are the 900 missiles China has aimed at Taiwan in the name of cross-strait peace!
