Travel Info Are you willing to see PR.china and Taiwan unite to one countries? Why? Travel Tips Yes, but not not until: PRC gets an accountable govt with at least 3 or 4 REAL opposition parties with different views who openly compete for a system where 1 vote=1 vote from each person over the age of 18. then they also have to pay us all, each and every person living in Taiwan, personally double the amount of american or european dollar value to the NT$ value that we already have in the internationally recognized and traded as well as respected banks here. (which is better than PRC's protected and unaccountable national bank system can claim to be- with defaults on up to 70% of its loans. Perhaps that has changed due to taiwanese investment however.) and if they adknowledge that Mao was a mass murderer like Stalin and Pol Pot and apologize for each and every time they treated the people of taiwan like trash to be spat upon and insulted whenever the opportunity arised, like a large stupid bully. and then if the PRC adknowledges publically that the only reason they have an economy now is due to Taiwanese investors, trained by USA, running your industrial complex for you and training you. and then if the PRC starts paying reparations to its own people for the years of oppression, torture and blatent theivery they inflicted upon them, and adknowledges that a 'great leap forward' was in fact a great leap backwards, and the cultural revolution was in fact a cultural de-evolution that has set chinese culture back 1000 years as far as credibility internationally. If human rights were enshrined and the death penalty for speaking out against the 'leaders' was gotten rid of and we could openly mock the morons leading the nation into acting responsibly. then MAYBE i would support Taiwan joining china, if it ever got any credibility. but I dont expect that any time soon. Others Sure I'm willing. I'm just some goofy white guy on the other side of the world. though I am Chinese I do not care about this question Not under any circumstances, even if China transforms into a democracy -- which is highly unlikely. Taiwan is a vibrant, enthusiastically democratic, sovereign nation. Its 23 million citizens enjoy a free press, the free election of leaders, and the right to assembly. Moreover, an increasing number of citizens identify themselves as "Taiwanese" rather than "Chinese." Contrary to the beliefs of China, and of course, the inept international media (particularly the US media), Taiwan was never part of China and hopefully, never will be. |
