How many children are a couple in China/Taiwan allowed?? |
Travel Info How many children are a couple in China/Taiwan allowed??If the couple goes over this amount, can they pay an extra fine to keep the child or do they have to have an abortion?? Travel Tips In China, it used to be only one but I was told by many Chinese I met in Beijing recently that it has changed:: If you and your spouse were both only children, you are allowed two. If either you or your spouse had a brother/sister, you are allowed one. Minority groups (non-han ethnicities) in China are usually allowed more than one. From what I understand, there are very strict economic sanctions for couples with more than one child, to the extent where most couples simply cannot afford to have more than one even if they wanted to defy the law.
