Where can i go "fang tien deng", 鏀惧ぉ鐕?in taiwan? |
Travel Info i'll be there in early april. will need directions to get there too Travel Tips Yeah, you 'could' have seen them from 'Pingxi' but the festival has already finnished. The main celebrations however were at 'CKS memorial hall'. You can still see them if you go to youtube and type 'Taipei Lantern-festival 2007'. Although you've missed the festival itself, however there is a slight consolation: During late March, early April it's fire-fly season. You can see them for various places around the island including: - Yi-Lan (NE of Taiwan, fairly close to Taipei) - fire-fly tours. - Ali-Shan (well, not at the peak but half way up the mountain - there are actually fire-fly tours). - Tai-Zhong, Nan-Tou and Ken-Ding. They aren't lanterns but they are beautiful to watch! Others The Main area for launching the Sky Lanterns is in Pingshi: http://www.pingshi.tpc.gov.tw/ You just missed the Festival but you can still go there and launch one now. You have to take the train from Taipei Main Station to Rueifang(Jui-fang) and switch to the Pingshi Line. Buy your Pingshi Line Day Pass @ NT 54 for adults at the Rueifang station: For unlimited travel on that line. 澶╃噲is a hot balloon made by bamboo rackets and paper. In the old days, Chinese write there wishes on the paper, and let them rise to the sky for the gods to see. The most famous site is in 骞虫邯 in Taipei county. you can take train from taipei main station. But the festival is already over, you have to wait until the 15th day of the lunar calendar.
