Will my US laptop work in Phuket, Thailand?

Travel Info
I know the hotel in Thailand has 220V 50A but I don't know if the plug will fit in the socket. My computer power supply says 110-240V 50-60Hz. Does anyone know if this will work properly?

Travel Tips
The computer will be fine, the converter part is all built in there.
What you will likely need is a wall plug adapter. The kind where you put the end of you plug into another small plug with 2 round prongs.
For Phuket, I advise that you get a surge protector. They're at Radio Shack for about $20. There are a lot of thunderstorms, and sometimes the powers supply does go out unceremoniously.
Better safe than sorry, I never charge my computer without one.
I hope you enjoy your trip! Source(s): My trusty American computer and I live in Phuket :)
Other Travel Tips
Yes, the information on the power supply means your laptop will work on voltage up to 240. That is now true of almost all laptops and most cellphone chargers.

However, you still need to get an adapter to convert your flat-prong American plug to fit outlets in Thailand. Stores like BestBuy and CompUSA sell a combo multi-prong (works anywhere) adapter + surge protector for about $25.00.
You'll have to get a plug adapter, but your computer has a built in power adapter. If you want the internet, get a hotel, or hostel with WiFi.
You are fine. I stayed there for a month and my Dell never knew the difference. Also, you don't necessarily need a wall adapter as plenty of places have American style prongs, especially the better hotels.
Technically speaking, the answer is yes.
Yes it will work you just need to get a plug adapter or a universal one from Radio Shack or other travel supply stores. Your computer power supply is an universal power supply that's why it can handle 110-240V 50-60Hz.

Welcome to Thailand!
