What are some places worth seeing near Chang Mai?

Travel Info
natural beauties are what I'm really looking for, but temples and markets are game too. Also, any places to avoid?

Travel Tips
I went to the following:
1. Kantoke dinner with traditional dances from Northern Thailand
2. Wat Phrathad Doi Suthep - Northern Thailand's most sacred temple, containing a holy relic of Lord Buddha and a copper-plated chedi topped by a tiered-gold parasol in its interior cloister. Equally impressive is the mythological Naga (Dragon-headed serpent) staircase, consisting of 290 steps leading up to the temple grounds. You may choose to ascend the sacred steps on-foot or take a tram to the top.
3. Wat Phra Singh - home to the beautifully ornate Lai Kham Chapel.
4. Mae Sa Elephant Camp and Orchid Farm - don't forget to ride on the back of a Thai Elephant for a truly memorable experience
5. Meo Hilltribe village / Karen Hilltribe village / Longneck Hilltribe
6. Chiang Rai and the Golden Triangle - borders of Thailand, Burma and Laos convene
7. Visit the ancient fortified city of Chiang Saen, the former capital of the first Thai Lanna Kingdom, situated on the banks of the Mekong River.
8. Night Market / Weekend Market in ThaPhae

Avoid Wiang Pa Pao, the most famous Hot Spring regions in Thailand. Yes its famous but when we went there, people were boiling eggs in the hot spring water. The smell was really disgusting!

Another warning, when eating/drinking and then you ask for ice, some restaurants charge 50 Bhat just for ice.
Others
Some of the things you have to see are...
Doi Suthep, temple on mountain above Changmai....also, the hilltribe villages are really interesting, they are at least 2 hours drive from Changmai....the Golden Triangle, where the borders of Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar meet...
I'm not sure if you're into it, but one of the best things I did was take an ATV ride through the mountains, some of the most beautiful country I've ever seen....
I never took one of those elephant rides, but they are very popular in this area
me
go to the province called Lampang. It is really nice place to visit. Fulled of history. Lampang just 1.30 hours on the bus. Very Nice city to visit. Thai elephant Conservation Center(worth to visit) take the Horse Carriage around the city( Recommended) Eating at Huen Chom Wang Restaurant at night by the river....good food there.... you can search Lampang for more details....
Doi Suthep, Mai Salong, Golden Triangle, Mekong River, river rafting, visit hill tribes, elephant ride and Ping River!
