only in the northeast is the smile real, but in Bangkok and especially the middle class its so fake you can feel it. especially towards foreigners.

hmmm im not sure but i think that title is in hte philippines,,coz filipinos are termed as smiling faces coz even they have probs,, they still smile... as to thai peepz, i really have no idea
i thought thailand was the land of hookers and aids.....
i think it means to the tourists not the actual thai people.

best place iver ever been to by a long long way, nothing you cant do really , some amazing hotels and beaches.

you would fine most of them are easy with giving a smile despite the misery... yes they have that record land of smiles because they smile a lot you never knew when they're mad or pissed-off
You may find them miserable but they are quite a contented lot. They do not chase the Joneses for that matter. And so you will find them smiling even if you think they are miserable.

The Land Of Smiles has always been their tagline for a long time now, and I am sure many people, local and foreign will agree with me. Many visitors had been charmed by their smiles that they do smile in returm.
yah, the smile will come when they are pissed-off too.
especially after some punch and kick!!! (mui-thai style... you know...!)
