Good company/service for a retiree looking for a 4-5 month residence? |
Travel Info First, let me say thank you very much to those who have answered my previous questions. You all have been very helpful. I'm a retiree. I'd like to tour Thailand to for about 28 days to look for a place to live a few months a year. I'm not looking for the typical tour as a typical tourist. I would definitely want to have a reasonable amount of contact with the Thai people, and not be isolted from them as a typical tourist might be. I'd want to spend some time just getting the feel of the country, not just doing "tourist stuff." Does anyone know of companies that might fit that mold? Travel Tips I know a few companies providing such services but sorry I cannot recommend. Once a retiree has settled in, they have no way to expect more sales from him as there is no need of arranging flight, hotel, restaurant, tour guide, or anything else a travel company can earn. Daily helps for newbies like "How can I get cable TV?", "Internet connection?", " Good dentist?" etc can't bring them any money. Therefore, their entire sales depends on the initial work, introducing a apartment or house. Accordingly their commission is way too expensive, and in many case they try to sell you a condo. As a conclusion, if you are going to spend your life here with limited budget, try to do all by yourself. In a few months, I am sure you will find good expat friends who will be very helpful. Best wishes Others Do what everybody else does and what I think you secretly desire. Get a Thai partner. You will learn much more about Thailand than any tour can offer you. Avoid Pattaya like the plague. |
