Taxi fare from Bangkok to pattaya?

how much would we expect to pay for a taxi from our hotel in sumkumvit to pattaya leaveing @ 10am and returning @ 7pm for 4 adults

I know from experience........... a taxi cab ride from Bangkok to Pattaya1000-1200 baht not affect by higher gas prices since all taxi's in thailand are NGV's(natural gas vehicles.) and up to 4 ppl should be fine(1 passenger up front 3 in back.)
I'm assuming ur a tourist... stand hard on the fair price start with 1000 Baht and and dont go 1 baht over 1200 Baht..
here's a catch no one knows about tho... i've done this 4 times and had 4 different friends done the same....

********* on ur return from pattaya to bangkok... any cab u find in pattaya(they all have to return to bangkok) will bring u back to bangkok for 500 Baht... IT"S TRUE!!!!! cuz they are aiming at the fair to pattaya and not expecting to find passengers to return back.... and 500 baht is better than returning alone with an empty cab***********

on ur return say 500baht... im sure they might say no at first but 1 minute later they will say ok......like i said 500baht is better than 0 baht for them.....

if needed u can get a chaffuered 9-12 passenger minbus(ie TOYOTA Hiace) for one day for around 1500 baht for the service and u pay for the gas/petrol....for trips from bkk to rayong, pattaya, petchaburi, hua hin, etc... meaning round trip Source(s): myself....American living in Thailand(2 yrs.+)
Other Travel Tips

Pattaya to BKK Airport is about 1000 baht (normal car) and takes 1hr 30min approx. A 9 seat minbus cost us 2200 baht in April (this included toll road cost's.) (Drivers tip your choice is extra). Also there is 1 train a day to Pattaya but that leaves BKK @ 0655 arr Pattaya 1035 if i remember right the fares about 36 baht each but this is a 3rd class fare

re: 1st answer above - 4 adults in a Bangkok taxi - wow. Hope you're all slim or 4 hours in a taxi togther in one day might not be very nice. I drive down there sometimes - costs me about Baht600-650 in fuel each way (diesel). Sometimes I go the scenic route to brake-up the journey; Bangpoo for lunch - that kind of thing.
A regular taxi will charge THB1000 per one way while a 'private' taxi, which will be more comfortable, will charge THB1500 one way. You can double this amount for the return journey.

However, these fares do not consider the waiting time in Pattaya for the taxi and you'll be charged at least THB 1000 extra for that, if not more.
