Pattaya Hotel: North or south ? |
Travel Info Me and my wide and 2 children will be travelling to Pattaya for holidays alongwith BKK. I am confused about which hotel to stay. Is it better to stay in North or south or central part of Pattaya hotel ? I am looking for USD 60 to 90 per night, walking distance shops, own nice beach, 3 or 4 star, good if has children activity area, NOT close to adult area, hotel should be not old etc. I hope I have been able to give you idea. Please advice. Travel Tips your not going to get away from the adult areas in pattaya. no matter what hotel you stay at. Your better off going to Hua Hin. Others you will stay in shangrila hotel in bankok they will provide you their self ships and its own private beach is also there If you're looking for beachside hotel away from the "adult attractions" you're better staying in North Pattaya or at Jomtien Beach (although latter has a high "gay" presence") Actually, Pattaya is NOT a good choice for a holiday with kids. You'd be better going to one of the islands or to Ao Nang area (and especially if you really want a beachside location). Koh Samui is still not quite so "hot night life" oriented as Phuket, although on the latter island if you stay away from Patong there are plenty of quieter spots. If you must go to Pattaya, I'd highly recommend the LK Royal Suites (a little more expensive than you specify-but well worth the extra). I agree with Michael F's suggestion for Jomtien beach (sometimes spelt Chom Thien). I disagree with nowhereman that it is not possible to get away from the "adult areas" in Pattaya. Jomtien beach is far away from the adult area (the adult area is Walking Street and the raods around there which is at the end of Pattaya beach). Jomtien beach is popular with middle class Thai people from Bangkok who go to Pattaya for the weekend. I was interested but surprised to read in one of the answers above that Jomtien beach is also popular with gay people - I guess I learnt something new today. I hadn't noticed myself. I stayed in a hotel near Jomtien beach last weekend and most of the people I saw on the beach / in the restaurant that I went to on Saturady evening were Thai families (seafood - Uncle Whai's Seafood Restaurant at the end of Jomtien beach - very good and reasonable price). I saw a few foreign visitors on the beach but they looked like they were looking for quiet relaxation rather than the "excitement" of Pattaya beach / Walking Street. Maybe Avalon Beach Resort in Jomtien Beach is about right for your budget:- http://www.wired-destinations.com/hotels... If you wanted something cheaper you could look at Pattaya Park Beach Resort & Tower in Jomtien Beach:- http://www.wired-destinations.com/hotels... which part of pattaya u going?if u go north u better stay in hotel in north..or u wanted to stay in south Pattaya is not an ideal place for a vacation with family since adult attractions are almost all over the town. However, there's once place there I can suggest which is relatively decent though it has no beaches and is relatively inexpensive. Try Peace Resort in North Pattaya. They have small cottage like rooms and no adult stuff nearby. Food and shopping are very close to the resort and the place is neat, clean and comfortable, for the price of abouut $30 per night for double occupancy. All major 4* and 5* hotels in Pattaya will have that "adult" touch since most tourists come for that. travel writer/ lived in Pattaya |
