How many people die due to road accidents in Thailand every day, week or year?

Travel Tips
The latest statistics from the Economist shows about 13,000 traffic deaths per year in Thailand, a country with a population of around 60,000,000, or about 35 people a day leave their homes and never return because of a traffic related death. The majority of these accidents are motorbike related and many of these deaths involve alcohol. I live in Bangkok and own a car and a motorbike, there is a helmet law in Thailand, and it is strictly enforced in Bangkok, almost everyone here wears a helmet, which isn't necessarily the case outside the larger cities and where a great many of these deaths occur. The govt. has implemented policies to try and reduce alcohol related deaths with dui checkpoints and restricting the sale of alcohol, but with limited results so far. Source(s): Economist.com

I don't know the specifics....but I know it's very very low. Accident rates are incredibly low in Thailand. You could travel throughout the country for 2 weeks and see only one accident (least that was what I saw on my last trip). Unlike in America where you are guaranteed to see at least an accident every one or two weeks. Or more depending on where you live.
i don't know how many die here but alot of accidents, Thai people are the worst drivers I seen, they are rude on the road, don't signal, will do anything they can to pass you on the highway, don't stop when entering a major road, motorcycle's pass on the left or right. they never drive in the middle of a lane always over lap to the right into another lane. they will create 5 lanes out of of three lane highway. They always seem to be in a big rush. I have seen many bad accidents over here. However one good point is you never see road rage from them. During Songkran (Thai New Year Period) 10 day period Thailand had 5,985 traffic accidents resulting in 476 death. 50% of the accidents were due to drunk drivers.
live and drive here daily.
i had the impression, that there are a lot of accidents... especially with tourists on motorbikes... a lot of girls have accidents or burn their legs on the hot engines.....
you HAVE to wear helmets, only a few tourists, and next to no thais do that, but only tourists have to pay if cought by the police ;o)

I would never ever drive on thai roads, not wearing a helmet, they really drive like crazy (i never saw 5 people on one motorbike before....)
i think mostly it happens every day on festival called Song kran happens alot about the traffic and accident
