Any last minute advice on packing for my one way trip to Thailand/Asia?

Travel Info
I'm going one way tomorrow, and won't be back for years. Anything most people regret bringing or not bringing? Whats new since 9/11 about flying? Anything surprising I should be prepared for at the airport?

Travel Tips
you can join the airlines frquet flyer club and get extra baggage allowance FREE @ 10KGS it does not matter if you never fly with the airline again ,you will still get the extra kgs
When you join you will get a number that you show to check in desk ,you might have to print card ,some airlines send you the card ,so you could get someone to forward it to you ,but you dont need it if you have your frequent flyer number Source(s): ME ! I join them all
Other Travel Tips
Bring as many pictures, albums, or any thing that brings back memories as possible...
oh did they tell you Thai Immigrations requires you have a return trip ticket when you arrive. have funny.

one more thing, There could be major riots and protest in Bangkok on May 30, so try not to be in the city that day.
You can buy a lot of stuff there! Dont bring tons of stuff! You can even buy clothes, shoes, sweaters, hats etc! They have all kinds.
If you know about natural medicine, it can save your life. They eat a lot of chili in India and thats because chili is antiviral and anti parasite. Stay away from sweets! Sweets are terrible combined with the environment there. You don't ever want to end up in a hospital in Asia!!!! Get your immune system up!
CAYENNE is great for building a strong immune system. You can take a whole chili and split it and put it in your milk and it is like a natural pasturization.
GARLIC kills worms and germs, along with onions. You can even eat the garlic and onion with puffed rice and chili on the trains.

Or quava with chili and salt. (quava good for diarea) Bananas and yogurt should be eaten when you have diarea.
Eating yogurt is helpful for getting helpful bacteria from THAT area to fight the native bacterias .

NEEM trees grow in India, but you can get neem tablets to kill worms and germs.

Keep a tiny bottle of clove oil for teeth! (hot chai is good for a tooth ache)

Mosquito net and string is good.

Ayurvedic and Homeopathic doctors are everywhere and can be great!!! But beware, there are phonies.

When you are there if you feel over traveled and sick, sometimes just taking your shoes off and walking on the earth, "grounds" you. WALKING Is very good after a flight. Especially on clean mud or earth.

Don't keep immportant stuff in the backpack (it will be sliced open) keep a small bag in your shirt around your neck that you can tuck in your pants and wear a long shirt over that.

I could go on and on.
Agreed with above one, family is the most you will miss, so all belonging like pictures that keep memories from them will be a help to get used to new country in the first months... and always.

You may want to carry some food, even Thai food is good (not like in my case - Im in China), you may want to eat some food from your country at the beginning. Also medicine, you better bring some for basic things like stomachache, vomit, flu, etc.

Wow, you may didn't choice right moment to move to Thai, is not a so politic stable country right now after the military overthrown the established governement. Terrorists atacks are now also a bit. Besides that, Thai is a paradise, nice beaches, good food, fun and cheap.

Finally obey the laws wherever you go, in Thai specially have a moleste majeste law, it means that if you offend the King on any way (talk bad about him, paint on his pictures, etc), you can get up to 20 years in prision... it happened last month to one foreigner.

About the 9/11, the usual, no liquids on cabin, but you can still transport them in your baggage that you document. Food can be transported on baggage as well if they are sailed or in a unopen package.

About airport, regions here are strict againt drug dealers, in Singapore there is death penalty if you bring any kind of drugs. So, like in a movie about two girl tourists going to Thai, be sure noboy is in contact with your baggage after you review it and close it, and dont carry any gift given by strangers, nobody wants to arrive and going jail instead of a hotel.

So, getting back to the question, besides personal items, medicines and food... and of course money :), I don't think you need big thing else to get used to the new country... and there is always UPS or Fedex for missing things at home, is not a big tragedy if your forgot something last minute :)
