Thai government blocks youtube? Good way? |
Travel Info Are you agree with ? http://thailand-daily-news.blogspot.com/... Travel Tips that's old news, you need to come up with something better then that. Others I don't agree with it. In western countries democracy holds society together. The UN tries to hold society together as well all over.In Thailand respect of the King holds the country together. But things have gone weird in Thailand since they overthrew Thaksin. I liked you tube - I wish they could just block the one offensive video - whoever put it on could take it off but chooses to deprive an entire country of all the other videos that people were enjoying - how selfish!! In Thailand the King is very respected and loved by the people.. Get rid of that one nasty video and bring back the website... I guess I can live with the block on a vlog ridiculing the King. That's not a very nice thing to do. Personally I think that freedom of the press is abused in my home country - England. I would quite like to have seen the 'South Park' thing on youtube that a friend in the UK emailed me a link to yesterday but I guess that I can give up seeing it out of respect for the King. On the other hand, if youtube were being blocked in Thailand for another reason - suppression of genuinely important information - I probably wouldn't be so laid back about it. If I really wanted to watch a something on youtube I guess that I could get someone in another country to download it as an mpeg on their computer and email it to me. However, in this particular case, I think I get through life fine without seeing the the offending item. Its a bit like the alleged ban on the movie 'The King and I' which presents Rama IV, King Mongut - king in the mid-19th century -, as something less than the high-educated, multi-lingual polyglot that he actually was. In my opionion one of the greatest, if not the greatest, king of Thailand ever. I know most people would say Rama V but he was really implementing the design for the modern Thailand that his father, Rama IV, had prepared. Anyway, I am digressing. The point I'm making is that if someone in Thailand really wanted to get hold of a copy of The King and I they could but once you know something about the monarchy in Thailand there is no feeling to do so because you know its unfair and, honestly speaking, a bit tacky. Its the same with this thing on youtube about the present King. If I really wanted to see it I could. The thing is I don't really want to. It seems to be over-doing the problem by blocking the site altogether. Youtube could have censored contents relevant for each country. no. i believe what hurt you makes you stronger. i understand y they blocks but the gov't should not be over protective of its people. it done more harm than good. |
