Travel Tips
Bangkok is in(famous) for its nightlife since many decades. Best known is the Patpong area, which is going strong now for more than 30 years. Also being around for about two decades is Soi Cowboy, a long time favorite of long term expatriates. The last ten years we witnessed the rise of Nana Plaza.
Patpong is located at Silom Road, while the other main a go go bar areas are all located on Sukhumvit Road. Is on the program of most tourists during their first visit to the place. Many bars around, the main group being the King group bars. The main street is occupied by numerous vendors, an added attraction for tourists. Definitively interesting place to visit, drinks are reasonable.
Soi Cowboy : has been around for a long time, with ups and downs. Generally speaking somewhat more laid back than the other areas. Caters to both tourists and long term residents. Many of the latter seem to prefer this place. More easy to just have a beer and observe the action, than the other places, where the girls tend to be more active. Many small bars in this area however, where you can find quiet some action too. Soi Cowboy is close to the Asoke Road-Sukhumvit Road intersection. It runs parallel to Sukhumvit Road and consist of a street 300 meters long in between Asoke road and Sukhumvit soi 23.
Nana Plaza : the rising star the last few years, at the expense of both Patpong and Soi Cowboy. Three floors of bars built around a central open space. Lately becoming more expensive, with the highest consumption prices of all the entertainment areas (though not in all bars). Nana Plaza is located at Sukhumvit soi 4. Nana Disco, also known as Angels Disco, is situated in the Nana Hotel on Sukhumvit Soi 4 and is a popular Bangkok nightlife discotheque.

Hard Rock Caf茅 -
As with all HRC's they are open for dinner and have a live band that starts at 22:00/30. The restaurant is on three floors with the second looking down on the bar area and stage below. Although slightly cramped around the bar area especially when the band begins, over the weekends it is a great place to meet people and have a great time. One of the greatest things about this bar is the bartenders who actually seem to enjoy their work unlike in some other establishments we could mention and also that the band is so close to the bar you feel a part of it. Beer is very reasonably priced and you should also check out their bottle promotions, recently a bottle of Jack Daniels was on for just over 2,000 Baht. The first mixers and ice are free of charge and if you don't finish the bottle they will keep it for six months, so you can return at any time within that period present your card and all you pay for is the mixers. This can save you a lot of money. This bar was a winner as one of the best three bars in Asia in the Premier Travel Awards for Excellence.

The Bed - Located on Sukhumvit 11 this is a very fashionable place to go for dinner, and or drinks. This is regarded as one of the hottest clubs in Bangkok and is worth going to if only to take pictures of the space ship like building in which it is housed. The club is split into two sections, one aimed more at drinking and dancing and the other are for dining and chilling out with friends. As the name suggests the whole concept the club is based on is a bed, they actually have waitresses in rather skimpy but elegant nightwear, and there are actual beds for customers to relax and enjoy. A very unusual but highly enjoyable club.

Calypso Cabaret - The most famous and possibly poplar transvestite/transexual Cabaret in Bangkok. Now housed at the Asia Hotel the show is professional and popular with couples.

Bangkok Night markets
1) Patpong Night Market
Situated between Silom and Surawong roads

2) Pratunam market
Is situated by the intersection of Ratchaprarop and Phetburi (Phetchaburi) roads, very near to the Amari Watergate hotel. This is notable as perhaps the best place in Bangkok to buy cheap clothes, fabrics and textiles - wholesalers and exporters buy here, as well as individual consumers. The market is not on the main road, look for the entrances that lead to it behind the shops. Its open for 24 hours!

3)Memorial Bridge night market
It is situated near the northeastern edge of Chinatown. Its a large all-purpose market night market.

Other interesting things to see in Bangkok-
) Lumpini Park
One of Bangkok's few open spaces, Lumpini Park is a great place to see the city's residents in the midst of their everyday lives.
2) Chinatown
Bangkok has one of the best Chinatowns in Southeast Asia. The shopping, the food, and the culture make it worth a visit.
3) Rattanakosin (Old Bangkok)
Attractions in this historic area of the city include the Grand Palace and the Temple of the Reclining Buddha.
4) Suan Pakkard Palace
This is the former residence of Princess Chumbhot, a descendant of King Rama IV. A great glimpse into traditional upper class life style in Thailand.
5) Wat Arun - The Temple of Dawn
The temple is actually built in a Khmer style and is almost a trademark symbol for the city. Ironically, it is most beautiful at sunset.
6) Jim Thompson's House
Thompson was a former CIA agent who became the founder of the modern silk industry in Thailand. He vanished in Malaysia in 1967.
7) Chulalongkorn University
Thailand's oldest and most prestigious university is a beautiful campus surrounded by some of the city's biggest shopping malls.
8) Bangkok's Shopping Malls
The city is covered in huge shopping malls with breathtaking range of products priced reasonable.

Enjoy your stay here!
Others
The floating market, the King's Palace, Temple of the Emeral Buddia and to many great places to write about. Pattaya is a nice beach. The night clubs I don't attend; but I do go to many good restaurants. Good luck, cheers.
If you want to see Bangkok before you go, check out www.visualthailand.com as they have 1000's of recent photos from all of the things to see and do in Bangkok, including top ten lists of all the best places to visit, shop, etc.

3 days is not allot of time, but if you do not waste time sleeping to much you can get allot done in 3 days.

There are night markets everywhere, including the large Suan Luum Night Bazaar. However, for most of the things you would be likely to buy in Bangkok in 3 days, walking down Sukhumvit Road from Soi 1 to 20 any evening and you will find almost everything you want for sale on the sidewalk. See www.visualthailand.com/shoppin... for about 300 actual shopping photos taken while walking down this street.

You have to use your time budget carefully as depending on the activities you chose, the biggest drawback is traffic and getting from one site to the next without wasting time in traffic.

The Grand Palace is probably a must see and you can visit Khao San Road as well because it is nearby.

If you are looking for nightclubs and not the bargirl scene, check out Bed and Supper Club on Sukhumvit Soi 11 prior to 9:00 PM when there is no cover, move up the street and around the corner to the Q-Bar to say you have been there (MTV is there allot). Then by 10:30 PM make your way over to Ratchadapisek Road around Soi 5.

In Ratchada there are 5 major work class discos all in the same parking lot. My suggestion is Bali which is always jumping, followed by Zeeds, Dance Fever, Hollywood and Motown.

Ratchada is where ALL the Thai's go and it is the best club scene in Bangkok bar-none.

If you want the bar-girl type of club there is Nana Plaza, Soi Cowboy, Soi 33 and Patpong.

3 days is not allot of time and that is why I suggest you visit the above mentioned website and look at all the Photos so you can actually see the places in a non-commercial and realist view and get a real idea where you want to visit.

If you plan carefully, you can have a really exciting 3 days in Bangkok.
Live in Bangkok
If you are Buddhist, I would recommence to go to 9 temples around Bangkok.
