What is your passport nationality? The requirements are different based on that.

What? Are you planning to do something illegal?
If you're from a country that doesn't require a visa to enter Thailand, you are allowed to leave and return to Thailand two times after your initial entry for up to a total of 90 days stay within a 6 month period, without having to arrange for a visa prior to entering Thailand. Depending on the country you're from, the rules could be different, so you need to check with the Thai Embassy or consulate in your country, this website provides good information: http://www.thaivisa.com/
Good luck.
The answer is yes you can because I just came back from Vientienne yesterday with a 3 year multiple entry VISA!

I had to fight with the counter lady and she would not do this, but after personally talking with the first secratary there, he authorized 3 year multiple entry.

The cost was 10,000 baht.

I was able to do this because I had all the required documentation and I have a legal business in Thailand that meets all the requirements.

It appears to me they are very reluctant to offer the 3 year multiple entry, but after carefully discussing this with the first secratary (consultate head official) he got out the rules and I had all the required paperwork to qualify for this multiple entry.

The only drawback now is going to immigration every 90 days here in Bangkok.

But the answer to your question is yes there is a way to do this and all the information is online. Make sure you have all the requirements met and you can prove your case and get a multiple entry
I just want to add something to Gerald J.s answer above. If you do do it this way (which is probably the easiest) you need to have proof of an intention to leave Thailand within 30 days of entry into Thailand - like an air ticket. This was always the case but the rule is now being very strictly enforced. (Assuming you are from a country that allows you to get a 30day stamp on arrival to Thailand,) at the Cambodia border (Poi Pet) don't even think about getting a 30 day stamp without proof of an intention to leave within 30 days. 100% you will be turned away. I have seen this with my own eyes. I have also heard that airlines flying into Thailand are being much stricter about checking you have an air-ticket out of Thailand within 30 days of entry or else they will not let you board the plane (unless you have a visa for Thailand already).

If you don't have proof of intention to leave within 30 days you will need a different sort of visa - like a 60 day tourist visa purchased from outside Thailand before you come. Thai consulates throughout the world issue tourist visas and other sorts of visas too.

In relation to the Poi Pet/30 day stamp thing I mentioned above what I saw recently was a couple of young Americans - I was close enough to see their passports - being turned away when they tried to get a 30 day stamp without proof of intention to leave within 30 days. They were sent to an area of desks at the back of the hall. What I wondered is were they being required to purchase a 60 day tourist visa? Is therefore Poi Pet now issuing 60 day tourists visas on the spot for those who cannot show an intention to leave within 30 days? Any info. much appreciated.
