Travel Info Does anyone know what the elephant sanctuary is called in Chiang mai that the elephants paint? Travel Tips Near Chiang Mai there are several elephant camps I visited a year ago and they're a big cute animals ..really. Maesa Elephant camps in Chiang Mai or you can go to a Lisu village Not sure how to regard the elephant camps in general - but this one was excellent - definitely the best I have seen. The show was a demonstration of animal "tricks", but it really was quite tasteful here. We were dead keen to see the elephant painting - dreadful tourists I know!. The elephants are wonderful gentle creatures, and are at such risk in Asia, so, if they have a good life and actually get to do some form of physical work, and survive, See for yourself. Source(s): http://www.maesaelephantcamp.com/... http://www.wayfarersthailand.com/twodayt... Other Travel Tips You are mostly likely referring to the Elephant Conservancy which is south of Chiang Mai - just outside of Lampang - they did paint fairly well there.. it's the Thai Elephant Conservation Center at Lampang. you can take a bus from either Chiang Mai (about 80kms away) or Lampang (about 30kms away). Just tell the driver where you want to get off, no problems. |
