What items are worth buying in thailand that will be a lot more expensive in UK or US? |
Travel Info Hi im travelling to thailaind in july for a month and am trying to get some reccomendations on things worth buying out there...e.g. electronics, clothes, whatever, obviously some things are cheaply priced out there and will be worth buying..i heard ipods are not! Im obviously not going to try and bring back 1000 watches or anything like that, but what items can you bring back without having to pay tak on them and have you ever been caught and had to pay tax on an item? Travel Tips Any handicrafts are best buy. You can find thousands of them at Weekend Market in Morchit. Shoes are also very good as many world famous shoe manufacturers make their shoes in Thailand. Buy them at department stores or shopping centers. Lots of PC accessories are also made in Thailand and I would suggest key boards. Cute Thai character is printed as well as alphabets sold from thb100. Fashion and jewelry are also good buys as other answerers already mentioned. Good hunting! Others I love to buy silk items when I'm in Thailand, also tailor-made clothing and jewelry (rubies, emeralds, and sapphires are plentiful). They have beautiful lacquerware and many of the handcrafts created by the Hill Tribes people are great for gift-giving. Bring your favourite photo and have it painted,I have always name cards done (great styles and much cheaper than back home). Clothes homewares & decorative accessories handicrafts & miniature products paintings, antiques & art pottery, earthware & ceramics artificial flowers handbags shoes jewellery & gems candles & candlesticks souvenirs ..the list of bargains is endless. Having clothes tailored is very good value especially for men. Clothes would be the best bet. A lot of European and US fashion houses manufacture through franchise. And they have boutiques in major malls where you can buy the authentic stuff, but made in Thailand, at fraction of what you'll pay in US. I bought a gold necklace for $200 and got it apraised at home. They said it's worth $700. |
