Travel Tips Since September, the international gateway of Thailand is the Suvarnabhumi International Airport in Chonburi province of Thailand, which is a little away from Bangkok. All international flights arrive and depart from Suvarnabhumi, which means, golden land, in the Sanskrit language, of which words are also found in the Thai language. The Don Muang airport is now used by a few budget carriers for mainly domestic flights within Thailand and a few to some neighboring countries.
