Rough guide to cost of utilities (gas/electric especially air-con and water) in thailand for family of 3 ? |
Travel Info moving to pattaya in about 3 months trying to get some figures nearer what we have estimated so ANY help at all is very useful Travel Tips I live here in Thailand and also have a family of three. First of all, water is very cheap, 200-300 baht a month, of course you can't drink the water in Thailand, I would say we probably spend about 600 baht a month on drinking water. The only thing you use natural gas for is cooking (and we cook a lot), we have a tank we use for our stove-top and oven, which only costs about 250 baht to fill, and it lasts for 3-4 months. So as you can see, water and gas are very cheap, now for the bad news, electricity is not cheap. It depends on how much you use your air-conditioners, we have a fairly large (175 sq. meters) 3-story townhouse, with five individual air-conditioners. We also have 6000 watt electric water heaters in two of the bathrooms, but really don't use them much as the tap water is quite warm. Our electric bill is between 4000-7000 baht a month, depending on how hot it is each month, but we keep the house fairly cool most of the time, and run two air conditioners all night, every night. Your electric bill will depend on how much you use your air conditioners and how big your house or condo is. Others i live in bangkok and have a two bedroom condo and the cost of water for a single person is about 70 to 100 baht a month. For electric I have three a/c in my place one is on whenever i am home cost about 1400 to 1900 per month. I live with my wife in Bangkok, Electric costs about 4-5000 Baht and water 170 baht per month. Flat is about 65 square metres. 3 bedroom stand alone house Electric running AC all the time 5000 baht per month Water bill 500 per month House Phone and ASDL Internet 1500 baht per month Cable TV 2500 baht per month Trash 350 month Get the grass cut 1600 month Natural Gas per tank refill 250 baht Live in Maid 3000 to 6000 baht per month Lady to do ALL the laundry each month including bedding for family of 3 3000 baht per month includes pick up and delivery If your child is school age check around on the cost of schools as this can be quite expensive if it is international school Can buy brand new 125cc Honda Wave Moped to get around for US $1000 Cars are more expensive here than in US Groceries can find many things at Tesco Lotus cheaper than US including milk, bread, meat, snacks, etc. Can get a haircut for 150 baht Also have to factor in your VISA and if you need to do VISA runs how much will that cost you? Live in Thailand for years my 2 bed bungalow takes about 800baht electric for 1 month.Thats with a gas cooker and air-con in one bedroom, only on at night, and electric shower. As with most thai households the tv is on constantly and electric fans going 24/7.Water about 200-300 bht/month(always on meter).Gas cylinder now about 220 bht which lasts us a couple of months.25ltr drinking water 10(yes 10) baht delivered. Can tell you a lot more if you need,ad nauseum ha ha,Happy travels. With respect to some of the other answerers I think they may be paying inflated condo prices. english resident |
