Any advice for a first travel to Thailand ? Where should I go, what should I do , if I want to stay 2 weeks ? |
Travel Info I'm coming alone... Travel Tips 2 or 3 days at Bangkok to see famous temples and shopping . You can prior book , or wait till you arrive at BKK airport . If you like the sea , I recommend Krabi . Personally I like Noppharat Thara , Ao Nang , " Anderman Inn ", which is inexpensive , bungalows under coconut palms a few yards from lovely unspoilt , uncrowded beach , popular with young backpackers , reasonable restaurant . Boats go daily to Phi Phi Island , long tailed boats to nearer Chicken Island , nice for snorkeling . "Lonely Planet" Guidebook has the details , better to book when in Thailand . If you're not so much a beach person Chang Mai is a very beautiful district in the North . Maybe you like travelling alone ; but if you want a Thai partner for your visit , they are available according to your preference . I live in N/E Thailand , not very touristy other than Khon Kaen unless you are interested in the silk industry our rice farming . Many nice girls from this area go to work in the south to find a nice foreign man . You might like travelling all the time ; thailand is quite a big country and I wouldn't recommend to try and see it all in 2 weeks . If you like busy places with lots of people you might like Pattiya , Koh Samui , Koh Phangan full moon parties , Phuket . Enjoy yourself ; Thailand is a beautiful country and warm friendly people . Others Get the Lonely Planet travel guide for Thailand, priced i think 27USD or 16Pounds in the UK. I have one myself, and it's a good read, lotsa information and suggestions and lotsa detailed maps too. I'm using this to guide and prepare for my travels in Bangkok this November. Have your guesthouse for the first night booked (Suk11 is an excellent choice) and stick around for a couple of days to get oriented. Visit the weekend market (Chatachuk), MBK Center, Panthip Plaza, take a water taxi, eat in a food court, eat as much street food as possible. Take a night train (2nd class, A/C) up to Chiang Mai, see some elephants, take a Govt. bus to Pai and chill there. Hi Lee Depending on what type of travel you are looking for would make a difference on where you go. If you are a general traveller the Northern part of Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai & Mae Hong Son are fantastic for culture and scenery. If you like the beach then Krabi is great (Phuket is too busy) and also the eastern islands of Koh Samui and Koh Pangan. Scuba diving and great kayak trips are offered around Phuket & Krabi. Have a great time, it is an amazing place. Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai and Phuket! |
