Anyone ever stayed at the Sheraton Grande Laguna Phuket?

Travel Info
I'm going there for my honeymoon in October and I'm just curious..also, what about public transportation in Thailand in general? Cabs? Trains?

Travel Tips
i stayed at the sheraton grande for 2 weeks over february and march. It was fantastic! The staff there are all so happy and helpful.
We stayed in a couple of different rooms. The first few nights we stayed in the 4 bedroom suites... private pool, staff came and turned our beds down and drew the curtains, lit incense every night, the other one was in a lagoon villa... needless to say ON the lagoon. it was unreal.
You wouldnt even know they had the Tsunami go through there, everything has been all fixed up.
Prepare yourself for the smell of thailand if you havent been before!!!! Laguna itself doesnt really smell, but Bangkok and Phuket in general (we also went to chiang mai) absolutely stink!!! You do get used to it pretty quickly though.

As far as public transport goes... there is never an issue. the have things called "tuk tuk's". we got around Bangkok for 40baht, for about 4 hours. about US$1.50 i think. theyre absolutely everywhere.
In laguna, they have private cars and tuk tuks all around. on average it cost us 500baht to get into patong, and 500 back, you can usually strike up deals though, i got it as low as 350 baht, but also paid as much as 750baht. remember EVERYTHING IS NEGOTIABLE!!!!
you can get full body massages (brilliant!!) for 250 baht and drinks for about 30 - 100 baht.
There really arent any buses or trains around, only train i came across was in bangkok, the "skyrail" which was handy.
At the markets they are very hassling, a few handy things to learn to say is "mai-ow" which means "i don't want", then they leave you alone cause they think you know what you on about and i think they respect that you've learnt the language, if you just say "no thanks" they keep hassling you cause they know you're a tourist.
"Pang" means expensive. they also respond very well to this! i got a fake rolex for 1800 baht, they were asking 4300. i just PANG!!! and walked away, he chased me down the street and dropped it to 2000 straight away.
Anyway, you'll figure all that out yourself.
If you need any more info feel free to emial me and ask :)
Have a great time!

It's a nice hotel. All the staffs there do understand English quite well. You can take local taxi for anywhere on the island. Just contact GRO at the hotel's the best & convenience. Free your stress when you are here. Just spend your honeymoon moments & enjoy. Everything here's on call.

Have a wonderful trip in Phuket & look forward to welcoming you back again & again.
