Has the public taxi stand at Suvarnabhumi airport moved from 1st level to 2nd level (which is Arrivals floor)? |
Travel Info Got the below from a forum posting dated April 5th 2007. Has taxi stand been moved to 2nd level already (from 1st level)? Suvarnabhumi airport is preparing to relocate public taxi stands to the second floor of the main airport building, on the same floor as the arrivals terminal, pushing out influential private limousine operators. Suvarnabhumi airport director Serirat Prasutanond said yesterday that taxi stands would move up from the frontal road on the first floor of the passenger terminal to the second floor after the Songkran festival ends on April 17. Travel Tips As of today, the taxis are still on the first floor, however, the taxis have now gone to a fixed rate chart and not the actual meter charge plus 50 baht. So the rate to most locations has increased quite a bit. The taxi rate to my house use to be about 250 baht and now the flat rate is 500 baht to give you and idea of the increase. What people are doing now, through word of mouth and the internet, is upon arrival, go upstairs to the arrival area and catch a taxi that is dropping off a passenger. These taxi drivers are not authorized to get in the first floor taxi queue Source(s): Live in Thailand for years Other Travel Tips It's still on the 1st floor. The taxi still using meter charge + 50 baht + any express way fee taken Been there on June 5 I had taken a public taxi at Suvarnabhumi airport last month. once you come out of the arrival lounge, you have to go down one level by escalator, and the public taxi is located there. |
