Can a foreigner hire a jeep or car for driving himself ? If yes, then whats approx daily charge ? Are road signs in English or only in Thai language ? Thanks for your assistance. Travel Tips a. From Phuket Airport to Royal Paradise Hotel Patong ? Approximately 550Baht, but they might charge more for 5 people. Beware of the taxi/limo driver taking them to a travel agents. The desk for the taxi/limo is as you come out of baggage claim, directly opposite. NOTE: The Royal Paradise hotel is slap bang in the middle of the gay red light district. Everytime you walk to the main road, at night, you'll have to run the gauntlet of lady boys and feminine boys, maybe not such a good idea for young children to see! b. Taxi cost for travel from hotel to following places; Not sure of the taxi prices. Bearin-mind it is low season and rains alot so some destinations won't be possilbe or very pleasant. i. Khao Rang, Phuket View Point No idea ii. Phang-nga Bay. Probably best by boat from Phuket, but due to the weather maybe a non-starter. iii. Phuket Aquarium Not sure if it's openned yet or not. Was closed for a few years due to repairs. The one at Siam Paragon is probably the best in Thailand at the moment NOTE: Siam Paragon is in Bangkok, easy to get there by a skytrain BTS iv. Wat Chalong ( Route 4022 ) Very close to Rawai Beach and Promtep Cape v. Rawai Beach See above vi. Phromthep Cape See above vii. Kamala Beach This is enroute to the iv, v and vi. Nice beach but not suitable for swimming this time of the year alot of rip tides and currents all across the west coast of Phuket. viii. Ko Tapu or James Bond Island Again best visited by boat, but due to the weather maybe a non starter. ix. Khao Phingkan No idea where it is! Do you advise that we take taxi for full day basis each day and see 3 or 4 of above places each day? Yes, becareful when choosing a taxi service ones on the street are usually unreliable and untrustworthy. If yes, whats approx daily cost of taxi ? Paradise hotel should have a travel agent inside, that way you can complain if the service isn't very good. Can a foreigner hire a jeep or car for driving himself ? Yes, but if you're not used to driving on the left or driving with unpredicatable motorists, I wouldn't advise it. If yes, then whats approx daily charge ? Will depend on the size and type of vehicle. I'd suggest going through an authourised dealer, like Budget, Hertz or Avis, as you can be assured the company and vehicles will have insurance. Plus they won't demand you leave your Passport as a deposit as all other local companies will. Are road signs in English or only in Thai language ? English and Thai although the English spelling isn't the same as it sounds in Thai, so confusion will arise if you need directions.
