Is it still safe to go to bangkok tomorrow??

during the protest

Travel Tips
Its very safe... it was even safer on September 19th Coup last year, and the street protest is just a show of people power and nothing more.

If you don't want to get into trouble just stay away from them and avoid direct traffic towards the street protest. Just like another user said earlier, wear your yellow t-shirt :-)

although the Thai people loves foreigners, they beleive that their political situation is an internal matter...There is no harm to foreigners.

You can visit Bangkok but avoid the crowd gathering and please wear your yellow shirt ..

go ahead! as ive said, my sister just got back from bangkok, nothing much - she had a blast

tourists are safe
yes - you're be fine :) I go every 6 months and I'll be there next week. Don't worry. You can sign up on the American Embassy website for T-land and they will send you updates and embassy warnings. Those are good and help you see what could be dangerous to American citizens. But you don't have to worry.
yes.
no problem beside the traffic
I went down to Sanam Luang last night (where the protest was) - just to have a look at what the fuss is about. It was very calm and peaceful. Policemen normally carry pistols in Thailand but guns were nowhere is sight last night. The large number of police and the small number troops that were there were obviously trying very hard to be non-confrontational. It is true that the nature of protests can change quickly. On the way down I saw 100s maybe a 1000 or so police in reserve (all lined up in tidy rows, about a mile away), I assume, just in case things had gotten out of hand. However, based on what I saw yeserday there is no immediate danger of civil unrest in Bangkok even in the protest area (in front of The Grand Palace).

A couple of people have mentioned wearing a yellow shirt. I am not sure about that. If you do that you are suggesting you know what it means (support for the king) and that suggests you know quite a bit about Thailand and are perhaps not just a tourist. In the highly unlikely event that you did find yourself in the middle of something your 'I'm just a toursist who is lost' story would be immediately put in doubt and there would be a suspicion that you are a foreign resident showing an unhealthy interest in Thai politics. Thai people generally do not like it when foreigners try to get involved in their politics - they don't even like foreigners talking about it. If you do go to have a look (which I don't particularly recommend) keep a low profile - as Thai people say - 'bow bow' - 'do it quietly'.
