Bangkok vs Cambodia? |
Travel Info I have never been to Cambodia but I have been to Bangkok and it was a blast I really enjoyed it lots of cool nightclubs and many sights to see is Cambodias major city anything like Bangkok? Travel Tips no bangkok is an up to date modern city while cambodia is a third world country. Others Believe me cambodia is not a safe place to holiday,I have lived in Thailand for 3 yrs & been to Cambodia many times it is nothing like Thailand. If you liked Bangkok, try Pattaya good place for a holiday by the sea . Why compare one city to one whole country? Depends on what you want to see. If you want to see a more modern Cambodia you go to Thailand, after all the Khmer Empire had once owned the land now known as Thailand. If you want to get into the nitty gritty and deep into culture then you may enjoy Cambodia. One famous landmark in Cambodia today is Angkor Wat. An ancient temple that was built during 1000's. The whole area of Angkor Wat was the biggest and first preindustrialized nation in the world. The King during that time had ordered these temples to be built many places in South East Asia which was ruled by the Khmer Empire. The areas included Thailand, Laos, China and Vietnam. I am not sure the names of the location but if you look it up I am sure you will find it. If you looking to party, then I am not sure where you would go. If you want to see deep culture and learn about the past about a country of contrast then you should check out Cambodia. I am familiar with Thai's rep as a party town esp. with prostitution and freak shows. Terrible how accepting these people are of that. Where is the morality and decency? stay in school You will not find the stuff you like to do in Cambodia like the stuff you like to do in Thailand. They exist - but nowhere near a tenth as good as modern Bangkok. Cambodia is a good place for an ancian site like the angor. but do not expect to see some thing like bangkok anywhere in cambodia or even anywhere in Asia! BK is crazy. they got a lot of historical site in bk too, but bk is just some 200 yrs old. it can not compair to the 1000yrs old angor. however bk got a good mix and almost all i n one city. -- Phnom Penh, the capital is a relatively modern city with a big shopping mall and western-style restaurants that are run by ex-pats. The city is safe; I stayed there for several months and did not have a single experience with violent crime. The only thing to worry about is getting ripped off by taxi-drivers. PP does have a good night life, but it is small potatoes compared to BKK. Also, the cost of living is much less in PP. You do get the gritty third-world feel with PP. Most of the temples are near Siem Riep, which is 400 km away from PP. I would definitely recomment this over PP. It is an amazing feeling to walk through the ancient gates in the middle of the jungle; the visitor feels like Indiana Jones. Cambodia is OK if you have a few months to wander around. For a short vacation of a few weeks or so, I recommend Thailand. There's just a lot more to see. |
