Travel Info Where in Bangkok can we get cheap desktop computer? We will go there this friday?thanks? Travel Tips Pantip has been mentioned above. I did not look at the information in the link provided by the answerer but one thing you have to be careful about in Pantip is whether or not the price includes sales tax (7%). I was looking for a new laptop two months ago and did a lot of research. I decided not to use any of the shops in Pantip for a coupe of reasons. One reason was there was I could not see any price difference once I had added on the 7% sales tax that the places in Pantip did not include in the 'banner' price. You can buy laptops and desktops in many places in Bangkok. The Big C chain of supermarkets, the discount chain owned by the Central people, is very cheap - less than Baht 20,000 for an up-to-date desk top. There is one next to the Arnoma hotel in Bangkok - opposite Central World Trade. The Office chain of office equipment supply shops also sell desktops pretty cheap - there is one opposite Emporium. The Powerbuy chain has a good selection of desktops and laptops too. Actually, I bought my new laptop from Powerbuy in Central Chidlom - there is also a Powerbuy in Siam Paragon. One reason for me going to Central Chidlom was because they know me and give me a special discount for being a repeat customer and secondly because a guarantee from a big company like Powerbuy/Central is worth having. Also I like the service they have for putting the OS (for a fee). At the cheap end you can a desktop for about Baht15,000 from Big C or Office; more for better spec.s. Others Pantip Plaza on Petchburi Rd. in Bangkok, five floors of computers, software and almost everything else involved with the IT industry. Here's some good information about Pantip: http://www.bangkokbob.net/pantip.htm... If for some reason you don't find what you want there, try Fortune Town on Ratchadaphisik. it might be cheap but ithink u should buy it here (usa) because we have more up to date computers. I buy my nootbook from the computer fair. There's one going on right now at Queen Sirikit centre. There're three times a year, actually, I think. Then, there's another one about February at Siam Paragon. Usually, you get better deals from these fairs but you really have to go early otherwise the sellers got so tired, they can't talk straight anymore. Usually, in these fairs, you'll get gifts like printer, scanner. When I bought mine I got an ipod nano. Otherwise, if you miss the fair already, I think Yaohan is quite good, other than Maboonkrong and Panthip Plaza. Somehow, though, I think buying computers I mean for recognised names is ok anywhere in Bangkok, just be careful that you've got the manufacturer's guarantee. Pantip Plaza as above mentioned or IT Mall in Rama 9 junction. You can take MRT (underground train) to IT Mall |
